Meet Mel
Founder
Mel’s love of dogs has been lifelong, with over 15 years of training experience and a history of sharing his life with Staffies, German Shepherds, Poodles and rescue dogs. His beloved Staffy, Shemi, stole his heart in a photograph with his white facial stripe and adorable black-and-white paws. Mel flew to Queensland to meet him at five weeks old, and the two have been best mates ever since. The biggest pup in the litter, Shemi also had the biggest appetite - and not much has changed!
Together, Mel and Shemi have won numerous obedience and rally competition awards, including runner-up at the 2024 State Titles. Since January 2025, Mel has volunteered as an instructor at Eastern Suburbs Dog Training Club, teaching the six-week Beginners Course as well as Level 1 and Level 2 classes, sharing his knowledge and passion with fellow dog owners.
For Mel, the greatest reward isn't winning competitions - it's seeing the joy when people and their dogs truly connect. With a natural, patient approach tailored to each dog and owner, he loves seeing owners grow in confidence, dogs become more responsive and self-assured, and their bond grow stronger. Mel looks forward to meeting you and your dog - and helping you discover just how wonderful life together can be.
